Lord of Mixed Emotions,  \nthank you for knowing. \nThank you for knowing \nwhere we hurt,\nwhat we fear, \nwhat we dread,\nand what makes us sing.\n\nIt's a strange day, Lord,\nthe day after many of your children\nsighed deep sighs of relief, \nand cried out to you with gratitude --\nthank you for being with us, for hearing us<\/em> --\nfor it would have been way too awful \nif Derek Chauvin had not been convicted \nof the wrong that was plain as day.\n\nIt's a strange day, though, \nfor many of us are not convinced \nthat locking anyone up\nwill change anything.\n\"He has sent me to proclaim\nfreedom for the prisoners\nand recovery of sight for the blind,\nto set the oppressed free.\" \nYou read those words right out loud, Jesus. \nYour Truth and Love is also plain as day. \n\nAnd so it seems we have ended up\nat the foot of Your cross, \nlaying down our swords and shields\nand offering you our grief and groans\nsmack in the middle of Eastertide.\n\nHoly Liberator, \nwho holds our sorrows and joys,\nand tends to our broken hearts\nand broken systems\nand teaches about True Justice,\nthank you for changing \nthe bandages on our wounds, \nand swirling us back into the dance.\nThank you for leading \nthe joyful revolution.\n\nGod Who Knows Our Pain, \nwe are desperate here\nand still trying hard \nto gain our sight,\nto set prisoners free --\nto create a world, with you,\nwhere all the oppressed\nare really liberated. \nWe are crying, \nand we are smiling. \n\nHoly Liberator,\nYour children are dying \nand we know this madness \nwill only end\nif we work with you,\nthrough you, and you thorough us.\nAnd we thank you\nfor hearing our desperate cries\nfor life, for Mama, for equity,\njustice, mercy and restoration. \n\nFierce Spirit, \nHelp us to listen \nto your fierce whisper. \nHelp us to respond \nwith courage and love.\nStir the flames in our hearts, \nignite our hope, \ninspire our action,\nand guide our steps,\nno matter the struggle,\nno matter the complications. \n\nYou are The Way, \nwe are your children \nmade up of mixed emotion. \nWe pray you help us\nheal and change\nourselves and this\nslanted society\nso that all know\nyour love and justice--\nso we see ordinary resurrections\nand dance with joy and wonder,\nseeing all the freedom.\n\nWe pray this through You,\nthe power of Oneness, \nas beloved community, \nwith trust and love, \nin you, our Lord Who Knows.\n\nAmen.\nAlleluia. \n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Lord of Mixed Emotions, thank you for knowing.
